For too many, God is not someone to be loved, but is a feared and distant being, so remote that he has no relevance to my daily life. Chris Blake believes that to be a totally distorted picture and in a series of 13 programmes airing on Friday and Saturday evenings tackles such issues as 'Why so much suffering?', 'Living on the Edge', and 'Illusions r us'. Hope Channel Programmes on SKY TV

Two top programmes from the Hope Channel schedule are now also being enjoyed by viewers of the Christians TV station, Revelation TV. This spring, 'Searching for a God to Love', a series of presentations and debates with author, Chris Blake; and 'In Conversation' are being aired at 8:30 pm on Monday and Thursday evenings. "We are delighted by this," states Hope Channel UK director, Victor Hulbert, "because this opens up the programme to a larger number of viewers on the SKY platform who up until now have not been able to experience Hope Channel programmes." Revelation TV can be seen in the UK on SKY 581 as well as Freesat 692. 5 Youth Pastors share their vision

Easter 2011 saw 600 youth gather at the International Centre in Telford for the 'i-change, u-change, wii-change' Youth Congress. As well as fellowship and witness, they enjoyed some outstanding preaching from five top youth-oriented pastors. We took them to one side to explore their vision for Christian Youth in the 21st century. Pictured left to right:

Leadership Seminars engage Pastors/Elders

A series of leadership seminars for pastors and elders has proved so popular that Hope Channel is making them available online for the benefit of a larger audience. The seminars, organised by the Ministerial Association of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the UK & Ireland are aimed at assisting pastors and other church leaders to hone their skills and ensure that their leadership engages both their members and their communities. Businessman Danilo Copiz led out in the first seminar, 'How to be a visionary Leader', while Dr Steve Currow, lectured on 'Creating Inspiring Worship in your church'. The seminars will run monthly throughout 2011.

Increased hours for English & Russian programming

Hope Channel viewers in the UK and Ireland will get more programming in English from 1 February 2011. The channel which originally served viewers from North Africa and the Middle East across to Russia and Scandinavia in a variety of languages is changing format allowing for 13 hours of English each day in two 7-hour blocks. Our church members have been pleading for more programming in English for a number of years and with the opening of the Arabic, German and Romanian channels this has now become a possibility alongside programmes that will benefit the Russian-speaking diaspora. Programmes in English will be available from 7:00 am – 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 1:00 am each day. At other times the programmes will be for the Russian/Ukrainian communities. We believe that this is a positive step forward along with plans for some presence on a Sky Christian channel in the near future. 2011 also sees a further change to the satellite signal which means all viewers need to retune their set-top boxes this week in order to continue viewing. The current frequency will stop airing on Wednesday 19 January. The new frequency is: 11642MHz. All other parameters stay the same. An auto scan on your set-top box should find the new frequency for you. A list of service providers who may be able to help you retune is available in the technical section. Hope Channel President, Brad Thorpe is apologetic regarding the change recognising that it is a major inconvenience having to retune yet again. He states, "Our satellite space provider for Hope Channel Europe is changing transponders on the satellite and we are being forced to change too. This means we have to have EVERY dish that is receiving Hope Channel Europe change the parameters so that they can continue to receive Hope Channel Europe." While it is inconvenient it is something that has been forced on Hope Channel – and is not an infrequent occurrence for other channels as well. We hope that you can retune this week and so continue to receive the expanded service of nurture and evangelism in your home. Change of frequency for Hope Channel Europe

The change will start effective 9 January 2011. You will need to retune your set-ttop box. Following the instructions in your manual you should be able to do a search and find the new frequency. If you are calling on a technician to help you, here are the paramaters they will need: Satellite: Hotbird 6 - Downlink Frequency: 11642MHz - Downlink Polarization: Horizontal - Symbol Rate: 27500 Msps - FEC: 3/4 The old channel will be stopped on 19 January 2011. We do apologise for the inconvenience caused and hope that you can re-tune rapidly so that you do not miss out on any of your favourite programmes.

LIGHT FM for the best in Gospel

Our partner radio station, LIGHT FM broadcasts on the internet 24 hours a day as well as running occasional restricted services licences in the UK. The station is mainly Gospel Music with a live request show Friday evenings. They also have their own Facebook page.

Twice this year, Victor Hulbert, Communication Director for the Seventh-day Adventist church in the UK and Ireland, joined Doug Harris of Reachout Trust and Gerard Chrispin of Daylight Christian Prison Trust for a live, unscripted discussion of Adventist beliefs on the Sky channel, Genesis TV. With the inclusion of phone calls and emails from viewers, topics ranged from the assurance of salvation we have in Jesus Christ, to the Trinity, our relation to the law as a response to God's grace, the investigative judgment, the Sabbath, health and hell. With representatives from three different faith groups there was some lively discussion, consensus on some points and disagreement on others. Genesis and Revelation TV is one of the largest UK based Christian TV channels and is available on the sky platform (Channel 592) and the internet.
